Singer R. Kelly has been sent to jail in North Carolina to spend time behind bars. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has announced that Robert Sylvester Kelly, formerly housed in the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in Chicago, was transferred to the Federal Correctional Institution in Butner, North Carolina on Wednesday of last week.
In February, the Chicago native was sentenced to one year in jail for his Chicago conviction on federal child p**nography and child enticement charges, on top of the 30 years he’s already serving on a separate New York conviction.
Kelly was found guilty on six counts of s*xual abuse via video by a federal jury in Chicago in September 2022; the women who accused him testified under the aliases Jane, Pauline, and Nia. However, the jury found Kelly not guilty of enticement allegations involving Tracy and Brittany.

The same jury that found him not guilty of child p**nography in 2008 in Cook County also found him not guilty of seven other offences, including obstruction of justice.
While Kelly’s federal prosecutions have moved forward, he is still facing a solicitation of prostitution allegation in Minnesota.
Since Kelly was already facing decades in prison, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx chose last month to dismiss the s3xual abuse and s*xual assault charges against him, reasoning that her office’s limited resources would be better spent investigating other instances of s3xual assault.
Kelly, who is now 56 years old, may be released from jail at the ripe old age of 79.
