Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, said on Saturday that Nigeria has what it takes to become one of the most popular tourist spots in the world.
Governor Abiodun said this at the swearing-in ceremony for Adewale Adeola as the 13th President of the Abeokuta Club. He said that his government knows how important recreation is to healthy living, which is why it chose to make providing enough social and infrastructure amenities a central part of the ISEYA plan.
Abiodun, who was represented by his deputy Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said, “In Ogun State, for example, God has been good to us by giving us natural tourist centers all over the state, such as Olumo Rock, Bilikisu Osungbo in Ijebu, Oyan Dam, Wildlife Park and Resort, Oronna Statue, and now the Abeokuta Golf Resort.”
He said that this is why his government is still working to improve the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism so that it can run the sector well, use its hidden potential, and bring in money for the economy.
While congratulating the 13th President of the Club on his installation, Abiodun pointed out that the Club was started 52 years ago by 11 prominent Egba sons. He said that this made it a pioneer in the history of recreation and social networking in the State and Nigeria as a whole.
He used the chance to ask for more partnerships from the private sector. He said that institutions like the Abeokuta Club can play a very important role not only in social engineering but also in promoting peace, quiet, and a cultural renaissance among the people.

Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and supreme ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, the Osile of Oke-ona Egba, Oba Babajide Bakre, and Oba Saka Adeola Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu, all told the new executives that they should be good representatives of the Club and Egbaland everywhere they go.
Olatunde Abudu, who has been President of the Club for life, also spoke. He told the new executives to get ready for the work ahead and help the club grow.
In his acceptance speech, Adewale Adeola, the 13th President of Abeokuta Club, talked about his goals, which included building a sports complex, a public drainage system, a data base for members, and bringing back the club’s e-gate facilities to improve the club’s security.
So, he asked for the full support of everyone in order to have a stress-free term.
