Comic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, is facing an extended stay in his sickbed, having undergone amputation on one of his legs a month ago.
His health has further deteriorated to the extent that he has become notably less communicative, and a recent surgery involved removing another portion of the same leg that underwent amputation earlier.
Adding to the concerns, veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor’s health has taken a critical turn, with over two months of hospitalization at Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi, Anambra State.
Dr. Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), provided updates on the situation, expressing a sense of resignation to fate concerning both actors.Mr. Ibu’s condition, as shared by Rollas in a telephone conversation, indicates a significant decline, with the actor scarcely speaking and undergoing additional leg amputation.
The health of Amaechi Muonagor, as observed during Rollas’s recent visit, is described as pitiable, with complete leg paralysis rendering him a mere shadow of his former self.Rollas, in a plea for support, shared that he approved a sum of N250,000 from the AGN Trust Fund to be sent to Muonagor’s account.
However, he acknowledged that this might not be sufficient, considering Muonagor’s records with the Guild HMO and Insurance policy. He urged fans and well-wishers to join forces with philanthropic Nigerians to assist the ailing actor during this challenging period.
Highlighting the severity of Muonagor’s health issues—kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke—Rollas emphasized the need for young actors to enroll in the AGN HMO and Insurance programs. This call for support Muonagor’s cousin Tony said in a Facebook post, where he shared the actor’s health struggles, emphasizing the ongoing battle with multiple health conditions, including weekly dialysis and treatments.
