Azeez Fashola, widely recognized as Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite Sam Larry, have both been released from the custody of the Lagos State Police Command, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer for the state’s police, in a statement released on Friday.
“Naira Marley and Sammy Larry, having fulfilled their bail conditions, have been released,” he announced.
The pair regained their freedom after complying with the terms of their bail.
Despite their release, the investigation into the death of Mohbad is ongoing. The Nigerian police have affirmed their commitment to revealing the truth and ensuring that those responsible face justice. The abrupt release of Naira Marley and Sam Larry only adds complexity to an already intricate and puzzling case.
On Monday, November 6, the magistrate granted bail to the duo in the amount of N20m with three responsible sureties.
“As part of the bail conditions, the defendants are to surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department,” the court decreed.
Recall that Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and two others were charged on October 6 and detained over their alleged connection to the circumstances surrounding the demise of musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Mohbad passed away at the age of 27 under unclear circumstances on Thursday, September 12.
The Lagos State Government has initiated a coroner’s inquest into his death.
