For the fourth year in a row, the Amsterdam-based Top Employer Institute has recertified Japan Tobacco International (JTI), a subsidiary of Habanera Limited, as one of Nigeria’s 12 top employers. This is because JTI’s working conditions have been judged to be excellent.
It was also named a top place to work for the 9th year in a row.
The Top Employers Institute gives the Top Employer certification. They do this by doing an annual international audit of the world’s best employers.
The research firm evaluates the companies in nine key areas: talent strategy, workforce planning, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, and leadership development.
The most recent certification shows that the company has great working conditions and excels in each of the assessment categories. These categories include outstanding HR policies and practices, employee well-being, diversity and inclusion, and outstanding learning and development opportunities.
Thomas Adams, the General Manager of JTI’s branch in Nigeria, said this about the award: “We are thrilled to be recertified by Top Employer Institute as a Top Employer both in Nigeria and around the world.
This award shows that our people’s policies are working, as they continue to make the best conditions for our talents to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.
“Investing in our people is the most important thing we do at JTI.
We keep giving our people the tools they need to reach their personal and professional goals, such as equal opportunities, an open environment, development programs, and general employee well-being programs.
“This latest award will push us to keep putting our people first by keeping them safe, engaged, and inspired, so that JTI stays a great place to work for our valued talents and an attractive place for new talents to come work.”
