The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of online applications for the 2024 Direct Short Service Commission Course. The announcement, disclosed on Friday, was communicated through an official statement posted on the Army’s Facebook page.
The statement highlighted that the application window would close on February 23, stressing the importance of eligible candidates accessing the recruitment portal.
As outlined in the post, the application is open to both civilians and active-duty military personnel. However, it clarified that consideration for the Direct Short Service Commission Course would exclusively be extended to serving military personnel sponsored by civil institutions by any of the Services of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The post stated,
“This is to notify the general public that the online application for Direct Short Service Commission Course 28/2024 has commenced. All applications must be submitted online by February 23, 2024. Visit recruitment.army.mil.ng. Application Is Free.”
“The DSSC is open to both civilians and serving military personnel. Only serving military personnel sponsored to civil institutions by any of the Services of the Nigerian Armed Forces shall be considered.”
Application Procedure for 2024 DSSC
Applications should be submitted online at no cost between January 19, 2024, and February 23, 2024.
How to Apply:
(1) Visit the NA webpage at recruitment.army.mil.ng and select the DSSC option.
(2) Review the qualification criteria for the ongoing DSSC courses on the redirected page.
(3) Click on the “Apply Now” button corresponding to your qualification and Corps of choice.
(4) Indicate if you are serving or have served in the Armed Forces of Nigeria and proceed accordingly.
(5) If you don’t have an account, click on “Sign Up” (verification will be sent to your email) or log in with your existing details.
Complete the form and upload all required documents listed below:

- (b) Educational certificates.
- (c) Evidence of membership of any professional body.
- (d) Certificate of state of origin.
- (e) Birth certificate or age declaration.
- (f) NIN/BVN.
What You Should Know
Applicants must print their online generated photo slip upon completing the application. The first page should be signed by the Registrar of any Court of Law, while the second page needs to be signed by the applicants’ Local Government Chairman/Secretary or any military officer of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent and above from the applicant’s state of origin.
Successful applicants will undergo a written examination at assigned examination centres. During the interview at the Selection Board, successful candidates will present their printed application forms (photo slips, guarantor’s form, attestation form, etc.).
