Alphabet, Google’s parent company, has revealed intentions to let off 12,000 employees, representing 6% of its global workforce.
According to news reaching Newsfly, Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, made the announcement in an email on Friday.
He stated that the layoffs will impact employees worldwide and throughout the corporation, and that he accepts “full responsibility for the mistakes that led us here.”

“I am confident about the great opportunities ahead of us because of the strength of our purpose, the value of our products and services, and our early investments in AI,” Pichai stated in the note.
He went on to say that the tech behemoth will “assist employees in their search for their next opportunity.”
According to the CEO’s memo, the company would pay employees in the United States during the full notification period (minimum 60 days).
According to the memo, Alphabet has already emailed affected employees, but the procedure will take longer in other countries due to local labor laws and regulations.
Google has joined a growing number of global IT giants that have reduced their workforces in recent months, including Meta, Amazon, Salesforce, Microsoft, and Twitter, as a result of today’s statement.
