The corporation generated N10.04 trillion in revenue in 2022, according to Ms. Stella Obiora, Tax Controller of the Federal Inland Revenue Services’ (FIRS) Enugu Medium and Small Tax Office.
Obiora, speaking on behalf of the agency’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Muhammad, made this clear in Enugu on Friday during their special day at the current 34th Enugu International Trade Fair. She asserted that the management of the Enugu International Trade Fair has complete faith in its abilities and ability to have a substantial economic impact.
Obiora asserts that all taxes assessed, collected, and reported on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria are the responsibility of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
Yet, she argued that the conception, formulation, and execution of policies cannot produce a sustained economic development without intentional human capital development.
Restoring the institutional frameworks of the FIRS is one of the four guiding principles of the Service’s current management, which is led by Nami, according to Obiora. “Our emphasis on developing human potential has constantly increased our income collection from year to year.
“In 2022, we collected N10.04 trillion. This displays the effort and skill of our staff ” The primary source of funding for world governments is oil. As a result, we have carried out several reforms, such as: An internal e-service tool called the Tax ProMax Solution is now accessible. It makes it simple for taxpayers to register, complete their returns, pay their taxes, and handle other tax-related tasks.
The Service has also installed Self-Service Stations in each of its tax offices around the country, where taxpayers can walk in, have access to the internet, and utilise the Tax ProMax solution to transact business with the Service.
The goal of these programmes is to make tax filing as simple as ABC.
Additionally, we provide a first-rate fully automated contact centre where taxpayers can call with questions and grievances in several languages, including English, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Pidgin, French, and Arabic. Their calls will be quickly attended to by our knowledgeable staff.
“I beg the Enugu State Government to also implement changes in collaboration with the pertinent government entities that will lead to positive improvements and enhance voluntary compliance, which will increase income creation,” the woman stated.
She asked every business and individual to continue fulfilling their civic responsibility by paying their taxes on time in order to avoid penalties, emphasizing that the government uses the money earned through taxes for a multitude of developmental programmes.
Tax harmonization is significant and still needs urgent attention in the country, according to Mr. Jasper Nduagwuike, President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), in his welcoming speech. Mr. Emma Nwamkpa, Vice President for Publication and Publicity, acted as his representative.
