Several Nigerian entertainers have received nominations for prestigious international awards, recognizing their remarkable contributions to the entertainment industry.
Burna Boy, Asake, and Rema have been nominated for the 2024 Britz Awards. Burna Boy and Asake have secured spots in the ‘Best International Artiste’ category, while Rema’s hit track, ‘Calm Down,’ earned a nomination in the ‘Best International Song’ category.

Additionally, Ayra Starr and Omah Lay have each received nominations. Asake and Olamide share a nomination for their collaborative effort on the song ‘Amapiano.’
Burna Boy has also garnered multiple nominations at the 2024 National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) Awards, alongside Davido. The 55th edition of the NAACP Image Awards, which recognizes outstanding achievements of people of colour in various entertainment fields, is set to take place in Los Angeles in March 2024.

Burna Boy’s five nominations include ‘Outstanding Male Artiste,’ ‘Outstanding International Song,’ ‘Outstanding Hip-Hop/Rap Song,’ ‘Outstanding Duo, Group/Collaboration,’ and ‘Outstanding Album’ for his latest release, ‘I Told Them.’ Meanwhile, Davido has received four nominations, encompassing categories like ‘Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album,’ ‘Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration (Contemporary),’ ‘Outstanding International Song’ for ‘Unavailable,’ and ‘Outstanding Male Artiste.’

Tems, nominated for ‘Outstanding Female Artiste,’ is also set to be honoured at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards.
In a separate development, two Nigerian films directed by Kenneth Gyang—’Mojisola’ and ‘This is Lagos’—have been chosen to be featured in the upcoming 2024 Pan African Film Festival. The festival, scheduled to be held in Los Angeles from February 6 to 19, 2024, will showcase these noteworthy Nigerian films.
