The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has initiated the production of diesel and aviation fuel, marking a significant milestone. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support, encouragement, and invaluable advice that played a crucial role in realizing this project.
Acknowledging the support from key organizations, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited), the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Dangote also extended his thanks to Nigerians for their belief and support in this historic project.

President Bola Tinubu’s visionary leadership and intervention at various stages were specifically highlighted by Dangote. He stated, “This production, as witnessed today, would not have been possible without his visionary leadership and prompt attention to detail. His intervention at various stages cleared all impediments thereby accelerating the actualization of the project.”
Expressing joy at reaching this significant milestone, Dangote emphasized the importance of the refinery in showcasing Nigeria’s capability to develop and deliver large capital projects. He termed it a game-changer for the country and expressed fulfilment in the actualization of the project.

The refinery has received six million barrels of crude oil at its Single Point Moorings (SPMs), with the first delivery on December 12, 2023, and the sixth cargo arriving on January 8, 2024. The facility is equipped to load 2,900 trucks daily at its gantries and ensures that the produced products conform to Euro V specifications.

Dangote also expressed gratitude to the bankers and financiers, both local and offshore, for their patience during challenging times. He appreciated the proactive role of the Lagos State Government, led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in swiftly resolving challenges encountered during the project’s execution.
The President recognized the contributions of host communities, their traditional leaders, and the dedicated staff, emphasizing their vital role in the project’s success. The refinery, designed in compliance with international emission norms and utilizing state-of-the-art technology, stands as a testament to Nigeria’s ability to undertake and accomplish large-scale projects.
