Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has urged for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end Ukraine’s conflict.
Sánchez made the remarks while attending the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“It’s critical that we keep in touch with Putin as well,” Sánchez remarked in Davos.
“For example, I strongly propose that the French and German governments… take the lead here.”
He suggested that discussions among Germany, France, Russia, and Ukraine be resumed in the Normandy format established prior to the commencement of the war.
According to Sánchez, the other EU member states would back Paris and Berlin in such an endeavor.
Earlier, Spain’s Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, raised doubts about his country sending Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine.
“At the time, this possibility is not on the table,” he stated.
His remarks come as Western governments consider how to respond to Kyiv’s demands for more powerful fighting vehicles.
