The FA has charged Manchester City for their players’ behaviour against Tottenham Hotspur.
On Monday, the Football Association levied charges against Manchester City for the conduct of their players in the closing moments of the 3-3 draw they experienced against Tottenham the previous weekend.
Several City players, including an enraged Erling Haaland, confronted referee Simon Hooper in the dying stages of a thrilling Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Haaland was fouled but shrugged off Emerson Royal’s charge to let Jack Grealish through on goal, only for Hooper to draw playback to give the hosts a free-kick after presumably waving play on.
Haaland continued to express his rage as he walked off the pitch after the game, and he continued his protests after the game by publishing a video of the event on X, previously Twitter, with the caption “Wtf,” which is obscene slang.
Pep Guardiola, Guardiola’s manager, said he understood his forward’s rage.
“He’s a little bit disappointed,” City manager Pep Guardiola remarked after the game. “Even the referee — if he played for Man City today he would be disappointed for that action, that’s for sure.”

The FA announced on Monday that City had been charged
“Manchester City have been charged with a breach of FA rule E20.1 after their players surrounded the match official during the Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, 3 December 2023,” the Football Association (FA) pointed out in a statement.
“It is alleged that the club failed to ensure that their players did not behave inappropriately during the 94th minute of the match.”
“Manchester City have until Thursday, 7 December to respond to the charge”.
