Nigerian music icon Davido has disclosed that he and his wife Chioma got wedded in order to be stronger as a family for one another after losing their son Ifeanyi.
The singer, who released his much-anticipated Timeless album on Friday, stated that he had been through a lot of difficult times in the last few months and that he needed to be strong for Chioma, not just as her lover, but also as her spouse, to face their dark time together.
“At the time, we were going through a lot together, and we needed to be there for each other to get through it and be ready for what was to come-Timeless.”
The time has come to prove to the world that I am prepared for this now that we have passed that moment.
The Afrobeat super star revealed that the album went through at least three different stages before arriving at the final version of “Timeless.”
Though some of the songs are upbeat and full of “good vibes,” he claimed that the loss of his son had some influence on the project. “We had completed the album before my boy passed away. But given the tragic nature of the circumstance, I had to take a deep breath and try to remain cool, he said.
There are a few tracks on the album that might transport you back in time and trigger certain emotions. You will undoubtedly hear me discuss a few personal experiences I’ve had, he continued.
